President Donald Trump's appearance is sparking speculation about the state of his health.
On Monday (August 25), Trump was seen with a prominent dark bruise on the back of his right hand as he signed executive orders supporting his federal crackdown on crime, per The Independent.
The president, at times, attempted to cover the bruise with his left hand during a press conference. Still, the black-and-blue mark was visible throughout the day.
This isn't the first time the bruise has been spotted on Trump's hand over recent months. The president has previously tried to conceal the mark with heavy makeup.
White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella attributed the bruising to frequent handshaking and aspirin use as part of his cardiovascular prevention regimen.
“This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation,” Barbabella said, calling it a “well-known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy.”
Despite the physician's statement, social media users have speculated whether Trump is undergoing medical treatments like IV therapy or frequent blood draws. The president has previously disclosed he has chronic venous insufficiency, a condition causing swelling in his legs due to poor vein function, but officials said it's unrelated to the hand bruising.
Trump frequently criticized former President Joe Biden’s health, accusing him of hiding medical issues from the public.
When asked about Trump covering up the bruise with makeup last week, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praised the president's hands-on approach with the American people.
“President Trump is a man of the people, and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history," she said.
