A MAGA influencer said she's one of the "African American ladies" begging President Donald Trump to "fix" Chicago, per The Independent.
On Friday (August 22), Trump claimed that “African-American ladies… beautiful ladies” are requesting he send federal troops to Chicago amid his crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C.
“They are wearing red hats, just like this one. But they are wearing red hats. African American ladies, beautiful ladies are saying, Please, President Trump, come to Chicago, please,” Trump said in the Oval Office.
“I did great with the Black vote, as you know. And they want something to happen. So I think Chicago will be our next, and then we will help with New York,” he added.
The Pentagon is reportedly planning to deploy military personnel in Chicago as soon as September. Trump has insisted he has the authority to conduct “takeovers” of U.S. cities beyond the District of Columbia, where thousands of armed National Guard troops are patrolling the streets.
Danielle Carter-Walters, the co-founder of the conservative group Chicago Flips Red, said she believes Trump was referring to her organization in his remarks on Friday.
“We knew he had been listening to us,” she said. “When I saw it, I said, ‘Oh wow.’ We’ve been asking for it in our videos. Now he’s doing it.”
Carter-Walters also defended the crackdown in D.C., saying, “If you’ve got the National Guard right there, are you going to rob somebody right there in front of the National Guard? No, you’re not.”
Illinois officials have strongly opposed Trump’s threats to deploy federal troops.
“We’re not gonna surrender our humanity to this tyrant… We’re not gonna back down. We’re not gonna cower. We’re not gonna bend. We’re not gonna break. We’re Chicago," Chicago Mayor Brandon Scott said.
